{"id":271004,"date":"2018-02-28T06:05:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T20:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=271004"},"modified":"2018-02-28T06:05:26","modified_gmt":"2018-02-27T20:05:26","slug":"new-kennel-eyed-end-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/new-kennel-eyed-end-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"New kennel eyed by end of 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office hopes to complete the construction of its new animal shelter by the end of 2018. <\/p>\n<p>The mayor\u2019s office has already started soliciting bids for the construction of the new kennel that would be about 5,550 square feet. <\/p>\n<p>The original kennel in Lower Base was destroyed in 2015 as a result of Typhoon Soudelor and the building was condemned after the typhoon. <\/p>\n<p>Since then, the Dog Control Program has been housing stray dogs in a temporary shelter in As Perdido.<\/p>\n<p>After Soudelor, the mayor\u2019s office received a $361,406.38 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to build a new animal shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan Mayor David M.
