The Federal Bureau of Investigation has increased the number of its staff on Saipan and Guam, according to FBI spokesperson Michele Ernst yesterday.<\/p>\n
In response to Saipan Tribune\u2019s question about the reported increased FBI staff, Ernst said the FBI Honolulu division has made it a priority in recent years to secure resources for the Guam and Saipan offices.<\/p>\n
At full staff, Ernst said, the FBI is better positioned to address crimes on the islands. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs a result, the people of Guam and the CNMI should be seeing a positive impact in the months ahead,\u201d she said without disclosing the actual number of agents.<\/p>\n
Ernst did not comment when asked if the move has anything to do with possible money laundering activity. <\/p>\n
About a recent police and FBI search for the possible remains of missing sisters Faloma and Maleina Luhk at a Koblerville property, Ernst said the FBI is unable to comment.<\/p>\n
