{"id":271236,"date":"2018-03-05T06:06:03","date_gmt":"2018-03-04T20:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=271236"},"modified":"2018-03-05T06:06:03","modified_gmt":"2018-03-04T20:06:03","slug":"uscis-mathur-shrm-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uscis-mathur-shrm-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"USCIS\u2019 Mathur at SHRM meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_271237\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-271237\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Kamana-Mathur-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Kamana-Mathur-photo-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-271237\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-271237\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kamana Mathur<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Society for Human Resource Management-CNMI Chapter will be holding a special meeting on Thursday,\u00a0March 8, featuring community relations officer Kamana Mathur of USCIS Pacific District. <\/p>\n<p>This meeting will offer an opportunity to members to receive training from Mathur on how to properly complete the Form I-9 and a discussion of the documents that can be accepted as part of the Form I-9 process.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the presentation will include:<\/p>\n<p>-How to properly complete each section of the Form I-9<\/p>\n<p>-Proper re-verification procedures<\/p>\n<p>-How to make corrections to the Form I-9<\/p>\n<p>-Proper procedures for accepting documents in the Form I-9 process<\/p>\n<p>-Procedures to avoid allegations of discrimination in the Form I-9 process<\/p>\n<p>-Helpful online resources<\/p>\n<p>Mathur\u2019s position involves meeting members of the community and providing them with immigration related information and taking back issues presented by the community to USCIS leadership to be appropriately addressed. <\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining USCIS, Kamana practiced immigration law in Pittsburgh, and taught at Chatham and Carnegie Mellon universities.<\/p>\n<p>She also served as a foreign service officer and U.S. diplomat with the Department of State.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Mathur was born in India and is an immigrant herself.<\/p>\n<p>Mathur will provide an opportunity for questions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SHRM meeting will be held at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan\u2019s Charley\u2019s, from 11:30am to 2pm. The public invited to attend.
