(Kimberly A, Bautista)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The second annual March for HERS event brought together women of all ages to discuss issues that women in general\u2014the #MeToo movement and \u201cTimes Up\u201d\u2014and women in the Marianas currently with. <\/p>\n<p>Last Saturday, women gathered at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center\u2019s theater to witness the presentation of five individuals who discussed issues such as women\u2019s health, women\u2019s empowerment, women\u2019s representation, and women\u2019s safety. <\/p>\n<p>The presentations got women to thinking whether they are satisfied with how they are currently being treated in the Marianas, or if they want to be the drivers for any change that may be needed in the Marianas. <\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme was \u201cEmpowering Women to be Leaders for Change,\u201d and the event sought to educate attendees about women\u2019s issues through a series of brief presentations and open discussions with a wide variety of experts on health, economic security, representation, and safety issues.<\/p>\n<p>According to former representative Tina Sablan, males dominate most of the representation roles in the CNMI; currently, there are only about two women in the House of Representatives and one woman in the Senate.
