(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Russia\u2019s Aleksandr Dorovskikh willbe aiming to repeat as champion as the 29th Tagaman Triathlon kicks off on March 24.<\/p>\n<p>Dorovskih is already on the island and even ran the half marathon event in last week\u2019s 2018 Saipan Marathon in preparation for next weekend\u2019s competition. Dorovskikh completed last year\u2019s race in 2:12:01 or six minutes ahead of the Philippines\u2019 Joe Miller (2:18:17). Guam\u2019s Manami Iijima topped the women\u2019s division (2:12:52).<\/p>\n<p>The Tagaman, which started in 1988, will begin with a 1.5-kilometer swim from Kanoa Resort to Kilili Beach then transition to the 40K bike from Minatchom Atdao to Banzai Cliff and back before ending with the 10K run all the way to the Chamolinian Utt and back to Minatchom.<\/p>\n<p>Interested participants have until tomorrow to register. All participants who will complete the Tagaman course will receive a finisher\u2019s medal, while the top overall and age group winners will also get medals and other prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, before the Tagaman, it will be the youngsters\u2019 turn to put on a show in tomorrow\u2019s Taga Kids and Adult Sprint Triathlon that will start at 6am at the Paupau Beach.<\/p>\n<p>The Taga Kids is the CNMI\u2019s age group and relay triathlon event for rising young triathletes 16 years old and below. The race is divided into the 5 to 8, 9 to 12, and 13 to 16 age groups.<\/p>\n<p>The swim-bike-run course for U12 participants will be around the Paupau Beach to ensure the kids\u2019 safety. The 5- to 8-year olds will do a 50m swim and one loop each of the bike and run legs, while U12 participants must complete a 100m swim, and two loops in the bike and run.<\/p>\n<p>The 13- to 16-year olds will have a 750m swim around Paupau and a 20K bike from the beach heading right toward Seafix, going to Banzai, and back to the starting line.
