{"id":272489,"date":"2018-03-23T06:06:56","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T20:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=272489"},"modified":"2018-03-23T06:06:56","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T20:06:56","slug":"nws-extends-drought-period-nmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nws-extends-drought-period-nmi\/","title":{"rendered":"NWS extends drought period for CNMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drought in the Northern Mariana Islands is expected to worsen in the next couple of weeks, according to a notice yesterday from the National Weather Service Forecast Office out of Tiyan, Guam.<\/p>\n<p>The NWS notice said that satellite images show very dry weather over the Mariana Islands and remain in short-term moderate drought, called Drought Level 1 of 4. Some showers have fallen recently; however, much drier weather is expected to develop during the next few weeks. <\/p>\n<p>There has been a rash of grassfires in the CNMI in the last few weeks.
