{"id":273105,"date":"2018-04-03T06:00:53","date_gmt":"2018-04-02T20:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=273105"},"modified":"2018-04-03T06:00:53","modified_gmt":"2018-04-02T20:00:53","slug":"senate-approves-cnmi-scholarship-cuc-board-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/senate-approves-cnmi-scholarship-cuc-board-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate approves CNMI Scholarship, CUC board members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate unanimously approved the appointment of an Office of the CNMI Scholarship board member and a Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board member last week. <\/p>\n<p>Tianna Hofschneider and Ignacio Perez were appointed to the Scholarship board and reappointed to the CUC board, respectively, by a unanimous vote to approve Gov. Ralph DLG Torres\u2019 appointments.<\/p>\n<p>Hofschneider, a teacher from Tinian, said it was her first time to be appointed to the board. \u201cI am looking forward to work with the Scholarship board,\u201d Hofschneider said in an interview. She added that she is looking to focus on existing programs of the board as well as future programs to \u201censure our students seek higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hofschneider is currently the junior high teacher at the Tinian Jr. Sr. High School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are future programs that I have been informed of by scholarship board chairwoman Rose Pangelinan. I just want to work alongside them to ensure that these programs are offered to current students as well as future students,\u201d said Hofschneider.<\/p>\n<p>Torres appointed Hofschneider in Jan. 10, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Jude Hofschneider (R-Tinian) went on the record during the session to express his support to the nominee. He added that during the public hearing by the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations, chaired by Sen. Francisco Cruze (R-Tinian), Tianna Hofschneider was able to prove herself capable and effective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe she is more than ready to further extend her services to other sectors of public service\u2014in this case, the scholarship board,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank her for allowing herself the additional responsibility,\u201d he added, taking note that she is also a teacher on Tinian.<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
