The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation confirmed two reappointments to the Commonwealth Zoning Board, one of which is currently serving as the chair.<\/p>\n
Juan Diego Blanco and Joe Ayuyu Jr. were confirmed during a delegation session last week as Gov. Ralph DLG Torres last Feb. 26 and 28 reappointed the two to the zoning board.<\/p>\n
Blanco would be serving his fifth term for the board, while Ayuyu is serving his second term.<\/p>\n
Blanco is also the chairman of the Zoning board.<\/p>\n
According to delegation chair Rep. John Paul Sablan (R-Saipan), the delegation Judiciary and Governmental Operations committee chair Rep. Ivan A. Blanco (R-Saipan) was in conflict as Diego Blanco was his father. Because of this conflict, delegation JGO vice chair Rep. Angel A. Demapan (R-Saipan) was given the authority over the committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe [delegation JGO committee] conducted a public hearing and questions\u2026were allowed [to be made]. There was overwhelming support for the [reappointment] of both appointees,\u201d Sablan said.<\/p>\n
He added that according to the committee report on the JGO led by Demapan, they did not see any reason to deny the appointment.<\/p>\n
