Celebrating peace and diversity for 73 years, the 2018 Liberation Day Committee kicks off its official search for the 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court today and calls on the community\u2019s eligible young women to help make the islands\u2019 largest event a success.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s theme is \u201cSea to Shining Sea,\u201d celebrating the International Year of the Coral Reef and the islands\u2019 oceanic heritage and cultures. <\/p>\n
Applications are now available at the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office website at www.saipanmayor.net or via email at nmiliberation@gmail.com. Deadline to apply is on Monday, April 16, 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very excited to offer this opportunity to our young women\u2014this is our largest community event that has great support locally and internationally and we encourage all those interested to apply,\u201d said Saipan Mayor David Apatang.<\/p>\n
Community involvement will be the guiding principle in organizing the 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court and other main activities. Young females from the ages of 14 to 22 years old are encouraged to join and boost their portfolio as an active community volunteer. <\/p>\n
The 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court contestant criteria is 14-22 years old female, not married, no children, a CNMI resident for at least six months, good academic standing and of good moral and ethical character.<\/p>\n
Each candidate will have the ability to sell Liberation Day Raffle Tickets to raise funds and host other various approved fundraisers. <\/p>\n
Twenty percent of each of the candidates\u2019 total fundraising proceeds will go to the respective candidate.<\/p>\n
The 2018 Liberation Day Committee is preparing the official raffle tickets with a $10,000 grand prize and other smaller prizes that will be released by the third week of April, along with the deadline for contestants to sign up for the 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court competition.<\/p>\n
The Liberation Day Royal Court titleholders are determined by the amount of money each candidate raises through the sale of raffle tickets.<\/p>\n
