Officers and directors of the CNMI Bar Association met Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro, Associate Justice Perry B. Inos, and other members of the CNMI Judiciary on March 29, 2018. <\/p>\n

The Bar was informed of the status and pre-opening measures of the Guma\u2019 Hustisia. Health and safety remains a priority, and until the air-conditioning system is fully functional and mold assessment and remediation is completed at the Guma\u2019 Hustisia, court services will be conducted at alternate locations\u2014Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center, the U.S. District Court, the Office of Adult Probation and Supervision Satellite Office, and the Department of Public Safety Training Room.<\/p>\n

The Bar expressed concerns regarding current case settings and the accessibility of the clerk\u2019s office. The Judiciary is cognizant of their concerns, and the bar was assured that these matters are currently being addressed. At this time, cases that have been previously calendared are being heard as scheduled at the Judiciary\u2019s alternate sites. Judges and clerks are aware that potential scheduling conflicts may arise due to cases being heard at the different alternate sites. To avoid these conflicts and any delays, members are asked to contact the clerk\u2019s office to follow up on their case settings. Office phone lines have been forwarded to lines at the alternate sites.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe clerks have been very courteous and organized in getting information out to us,\u201d said Bench-Bar Committee chair Michael White, Esq. Judiciary employees are doing their best to serve the public despite the current state of the Guma\u2019 Hustisia. The Judiciary appreciates the public\u2019s continued patience and understanding.<\/p>\n

A public notice was issued on Thursday, March 29, 2018, that the Guma\u2019 Hustisia will remain closed to the public until further notice. Although the Guma\u2019 Hustisia remains closed, court operations have resumed with services provided at alternate locations.<\/p>\n
