A woman allegedly stabbed her common-law husband in the nape during a drinking session with a neighbor at their home in Chalan Laulau last week. <\/p>\n
The victim, Biro Hamo, was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment of a two-inch deep puncture wound on the neck. The wound was about an inch in length. He was later released as an outpatient, police said.<\/p>\n
The common-law-wife, Ana Nepaial Mettao, 55, was arrested at the scene for assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n
At a hearing last Friday afternoon, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $25,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for April 13 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Heather Zona was appointed as counsel for Mettao. Assistant attorney general Frances Demapan appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
A police officer was dispatched to a disturbance call at Mettao\u2019s residence in Chalan Laulau last Wednesday, April 4, at 10:46pm. The responding officer arrived at the scene and found out that it was a stabbing incident.<\/p>\n
At CHC, where Hamo was taken by emergency medical technicians, he told police that he had been drinking with Mettao and a male neighbor at their house since 11am that day.<\/p>\n
He said Mettao and their neighbor began arguing so he separated them. He said he took their neighbor out of the kitchen and escorted him outside the house.<\/p>\n
On his way back to the kitchen, Mettao stood in the middle of the doorway and then stabbed him with a knife once behind his neck.<\/p>\n
The victim said he immediately felt dizzy so he sat under a mango tree while applying pressure to his wound until the police arrived.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
