{"id":273745,"date":"2018-04-11T06:06:04","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T20:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=273745"},"modified":"2018-04-11T06:06:04","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T20:06:04","slug":"municipal-council-chair-to-run-for-house-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/municipal-council-chair-to-run-for-house-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"Municipal Council chair to run for House seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council chair Luis John \u201cL.J.\u201d DLG Castro has officially announced his candidacy for a seat in the CNMI House of Representatives in the upcoming election. <\/p>\n<p>Castro will be running under the NMI Republican Party as representative for Precinct 1. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRunning for this office was something I have wanted to do in the past, but yet due to certain setbacks I was not able to. Now, with encouragement from friends and loved ones, it is an ambition I\u2019m excited to seek,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Castro was a member of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council for the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this election, I seek to serve the people who I looked up to growing up, and those whose lives I\u2019ve been privileged to enrich through my work in the community as both a citizen and as a public official,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Castro is active in the church and was a senator in the second, third, and fourth CNMI Youth Congress.<\/p>\n<p>He cited his experience of having worked with the late governor Eloy S. Inos and Gov.
