He was later released after being treated.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was given a traffic citation, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jacqueline Rae Shepard.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the patrol car, a male police officer, was not injured, Shepard said.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard said both vehicles had extensive damage on the front and front right side.<\/p>\n<p>It was at 6:15am when a police officer notified DPS dispatch of a car accident involving a patrol vehicle in As Perdido.<\/p>\n<p>According to the investigating officer, the patrol car was heading south while the Toyota Corolla was heading west.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard said the Corolla drifted into the eastbound lane and collided with the patrol car.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard said that, according to the police officer, he was unable to avoid the collision because of additional traffic, as well as a deep ravine on the shoulder of the road.<\/p>\n<p>Last March 24, a Tagaman competitor from Japan was injured when his bicycle struck a car that collided with a police motorcycle at the intersection of Beach Road and Chalan Hagoi near Mt.
