A widow has filed a petition to have the court declare her husband, who has been reported missing since August 2010, deceased.<\/p>\n
Jing Zhi Li, through counsel Bruce Berline, requested the Superior Court yesterday to issue an order establishing a presumption of death of her husband, Jianke Li, who disappeared when he and his companion went cliff fishing at Naftan Point on Saipan. <\/p>\n
Li asked the court to order the office of vital statistics to prepare a death certificate for her missing husband.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 9, 2010, authorities located Jianke\u2019s companion, Jian Sheng, who was drowned in the waters at the bottom of the cliff where the two had been fishing, according to police and court records.<\/p>\n
According to Berline, the Li couple has two children\u2014ages 23 and 12 years old.<\/p>\n
Berline said Jianke Li has been missing from his last known place of domicile for five years or longer.<\/p>\n
Berline said Jianke Li was last heard from on Aug. 8, 2010.<\/p>\n
The lawyer said Jianke Li departed his home in San Antonio around 8pm on Aug. 8, 2010, to go cliff fishing at Naftan Point.<\/p>\n
The following morning, Aug. 9, 2010, Jianke Li and his companion, Jian Sheng, had not returned home and were reported missing to the Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n
Berline said authorities conducted a land and sea search for the missing fishermen.<\/p>\n
That same day, Sheng\u2019s body was located in the waters at the bottom of the cliff.<\/p>\n
Berline said the search was terminated in the evening of Aug. 11, 2010.<\/p>\n
