(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Leandro \u201cAndrew\u201d Agapito was named the overall winner of the annual Gold\u2019s Gym Transformation Challenge, which held its awards banquet last April 14 at Everest Kitchen in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>Agapito, who weighed 210 lbs at the start of the challenge, finished the contest with a weight of 176 lbs, having lost 34 lbs during the 12-week Transformation Challenge. He credited thoughts of taking care of his family as his primary motivator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy family was really concerned about my health\u2026I felt unhappy and depressed after seeing my unflattering photos on Facebook\u2014a sagging belly, huge cheeks and chin which concealed my neck and my immune system was deteriorating. I knew that I really have to lose weight and start to live a healthy lifestyle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis challenge made me realize so many things such as the value life, health, and family as they are my strength and inspiration. Since I\u2019m\u2026the breadwinner, a husband and a father, I thought that if  I  don\u2019t take care of myself, if I continue neglecting my body and health, what would happen to my family? Who is going to provide for them? And these are the thoughts and questions that kept me motivated,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He hopes that his experience will motivate, inspire, and encourage his colleagues and friends to be fit and healthy. \u201cMy role here is to be a good example and by becoming a living testimony for them and for everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said his transformation only marks the beginning of his fitness journey.<\/p>\n<p>The other winners in the men\u2019s 18-35 age bracket were Jeffrey Bahillo, Francisco Rosario II, and Terence Leung. Winners in the men\u2019s 35 and above age bracket were Ronnel Mostales, Albert Pitpit, Freddy Sato, and Brad Ruszala.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 18-34 age bracket winners were Venus Raguine, Joann Villena, and Shawna Brenfleck. The women\u2019s 35-and-above winners were Leonila \u201cOnie\u201d Alejos, Elizabeth Lebria, and Rhodora Joson. <\/p>\n<p>All winners received cash prizes and Gold\u2019s Gym certificates to ensure their fitness journey would continue.<\/p>\n<p>A special award called the \u201cUltra Award,\u201d named after sponsor Michelob Ultra, was given to the participant earning the most points by attending Gold\u2019s Gym classes, checking in to use the facilities, and triple points for joining the Saturday Challenge Bootcamp classes.\u00a0The female winner was Reydamellia Calibo and male winner was Ronnel Mostales, who also won the first place prize in the male 35+  and over category. <\/p>\n<p>According to Aaron Tomokane, a certified personal trainer at Gold\u2019s Gym,  the challenge began with 58 participants and Agapito was one of the 29 participants who completed with their \u201cafter\u201d assessments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe sincerely hope it that was a positive experience for all involved and as a group, these 29 challengers lost nearly 471 lbs and 150 inches off their waistlines.\u00a0\u00a0The estimated loss in percentage body fat averaged 6.4 percent and this was one of the most competitive challenges that I\u2019ve seen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gold\u2019s Gym\u2019s partners were Michelob Ultra from MarPac, PHI Pharmacy, Saipan Apparel, Brabu Pharmacy &amp; Wellness Center<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cEveryone\u2019s a winner and when we focus on eating healthy and exercising regularly, then everyone wins,\u201d said Tyce Mister, general manager of Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Mister said that many of Gold\u2019s Gym\u2019s personal trainers are certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan has been serving the community since 1997.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leandro \u201cAndrew\u201d Agapito was named the overall winner of the annual Gold\u2019s Gym Transformation Challenge,&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":30,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[8005,20889,14100,1774],"class_list":["post-274386","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-gym-saipan","tag-michelob-ultra","tag-ronnel-mostales","tag-tyce-mister"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/274386","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/30"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=274386"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/274386\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=274386"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=274386"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=274386"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
