Dennis G. Rodriguez Jr., chairman of the Committee on Tourism in the Guam Legislature, introduced late Tuesday afternoon Bill 276-34 (LS), seeking out an operator to design a municipal Wi-Fi service for the island of Guam. <\/p>\n<p>It directs the Guam Economic Development Authority, in collaboration with the Office of Technology, to develop and publish a request for information relative to ho\u200bw an interested contractor,\u00a0internet service provider, or operator would design a municipal Wi-Fi\u200b service to provide internet access to the entire island of Guam.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b&#8221;\u200bWith an islandwide Wi-Fi system in place, it can improve our education both in schools and online, enhance our emergency response system, upgrade our public safety and infrastructure systems, and drive economic growth,&#8221; said Rodriguez.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Bill 276-34 is in response to the internet becoming an essential utility of the 21st century.
