An argument over Facebook messages led to domestic violence and caused a man to land in the hospital due to injuries after his girlfriend allegedly attacked him with a metal pipe at an apartment in Chalan Kanoa last Sunday. <\/p>\n
Amber Francine Castro Garrido, 27, a hotel employee, was arrested for assault and battery, criminal mischief, and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n
The boyfriend was treated at the Commonwealth Health Center\u2019s emergency room for an open wound on the left inner part of his thumb.<\/p>\n
At yesterday afternoon\u2019s hearing, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho allowed the temporary release of Garrido to a third party custodian upon posting a $5,000 unsecured or appearance bond.<\/p>\n
Preliminary hearing will be on May 7 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
Chief public defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Garrido. Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
According to police detective Leopoldo Theodore Mejia Duenas Jr. in his report, last Sunday at 12:03pm, Department of Public Safety dispatch sent units to a reported stabbing incident at an apartment on Donicio Avenue in Chalan Kanoa. <\/p>\n
Duenas said when a police officer responded to the apartment, he observed medics were wrapping the left thumb of the victim, who was then transported to CHC.<\/p>\n
Duenas said the officer learned that Garrido approached his boyfriend, who was eating in the kitchen\/dining table, and confronted him about Facebook messages between him and his former girlfriend.<\/p>\n
Garrido allegedly shouted at his boyfriend why he deleted the messages. She then threw his cell phone to the floor, causing the screen to crack.<\/p>\n
Garrido went to the living room, grabbed a metal pipe, and repeatedly hit her boyfriend with it.<\/p>\n
The boyfriend observed that a small chunk of his skin from the thumb fell to the floor.<\/p>\n
As the boyfriend was sitting down and applying pressure to his thumb to stop the bleeding, Garrido allegedly took a plate of fried rice and threw the rice to his face.<\/p>\n
