The Senate confirmed a former principal of Saipan Southern High School as a member of the Northern Marianas College Board of Regents.<\/p>\n
Jesus \u201cJesse\u201d M. Tudela was unanimously confirmed by the Senate during their session last Friday.<\/p>\n
Tudela, who is the current director of hospital services at the Commonwealth Health Center since 2013, also served as a former teacher, vice principal, and principal of Saipan Southern High School.<\/p>\n
In an interview, Tudela said though he still remains unaware of the several problems the college faces, he said he would look into those issues and do his \u201cdue diligence on what is happening as much as a board regent can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sen. Francisco Cruz (R-Tinian) recommended during Tudela\u2019s public hearing that both NMC and the Northern Marianas Trades Institute work together. According to Tudela the different entities, one being affiliated with the public sector and the other with the private sector, is worth being looked into.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we speak I know NMTI is a private entity while NMC is a public entity\u2014there are two different entities, there is a distinction,\u201d he said, adding that there might be a possible clash of authority over programs if they were to work together. Despite the comment, Tudela said he would still look into the possibility.<\/p>\n
Despite having prior teaching and managerial positions in a school, Tudela also has a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii-Manoa and a master\u2019s degree in education in international studies from the Framingham State College in Massachusetts. Tudela is also currently in the process of completing his masters in health administration from Ohio University. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
