Tenorio, disaster program manager \u201cBy volunteering with the Red Cross, someone can truly make a difference in someone\u2019s life. Please join us and help \u2018Sound the Alarm\u2019 by volunteering on May 12, 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in volunteering, contact the NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross at (670) 234-3459 or visit the \u201cSound the Alarm\u201d information on redcross.org.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters a year, the majority of which are home fires. Working smoke alarms in a home cut the risk of death by half and having an escape plan further improves the odds of survival. The Red Cross launched the Home Fire Campaign in 2014 to end these tragedies and save lives.<\/p>\n<p>Here in CNMI, the Red Cross has installed a total of 516 smoke alarms, making 253 homes safer.
