The James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical Into the Woods\u00a0will be performed on May 9, 10 and 11.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>This is a postponement of the earlier announced April schedule.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The award-winning Broadway musical will be directed by Harold Easton, assisted by Marilou Conner, with Katie Hoyt as the musical director for this Friends of the Arts production.<\/p>\n<p>Into the Woods\u00a0debuted in San Diego at the\u00a0Old Globe Theatre\u00a0in 1986 and premiered on\u00a0Broadway\u00a0on Nov. 5, 1987, where it won several\u00a0Tony Awards.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The musical plot stems from several\u00a0Brothers Grimm\u00a0and\u00a0Charles Perrault\u00a0fairy tales, with characters taken from Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.\u00a0 The story follows a childless baker and his wife in their quest to begin a family by finding a red cape, a white cow, corn-yellow hair and a magic slipper to get a wicked witch to remove a curse she has placed on them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This play, just before Mother\u2019s Day, will be dedicated to all of the moms of the community, who are invited to attend at half-price. <\/p>\n<p>The play will be held at the\u00a0Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. Show dates will be on\u00a0May 9, 10 and 11, all shows starting at 7pm. Tickets prices for all three shows start at $4 for students, $6 for FOA members, and $8 for adults and\u00a0half-price for all moms! \u00a0You may purchase tickets at Bridge Capital at their front desk, from members of the play\u2019s cast and at the door for each performance.<\/p>\n<p>The Friends of the Arts is the CNMI\u2019s local community theater organization that promotes performing arts through hosting several plays each year.
