Badminton action returns this Friday at the TSL Sports Complex with the Northern Marianas Badminton Association\u2019s first major tournament in more than a year. The competition is sponsored by IT&E.<\/p>\n
The 2018 IT&E Badminton Tournament will be held for two weekends, starting from May 11 to 13 and culminating from May 18 to 20. Competitions will be in singles, and men\u2019s, women\u2019s, and mixed doubles both in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s divisions.<\/p>\n
The registration fee is $10 for single entry and $5 for each additional category. The deadline for submission of entries is on May 9, Wednesday. NMBA is requiring that all registration and membership fees must be paid in order to qualify and play in the tournament.<\/p>\n
Registration can be submitted to NMBA secretary general Christy Villaflor at christy_villaflor@saipansoccerschool.org.<\/p>\n
This weekend\u2019s competition is NMBA\u2019s second for 2018, as it hosted a short tournament in February with seven pairs emerging as champions. Ichiro Borja, Windy Fernandez, and Irish Pagarao led the list of winners after they each won two division titles in the TanHoldings-sponsored tournament.<\/p>\n
The NMBA, early this year, has elected a new set of officers and they plan to renew interest in the sport and continue its youth development program, as the 2021 Pacific Mini Games that Saipan will be hosting nears.<\/p>\n
