{"id":275559,"date":"2018-05-08T06:06:42","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T20:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=275559"},"modified":"2018-05-08T06:06:42","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T20:06:42","slug":"javier-is-new-mhs-battalion-commander","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/javier-is-new-mhs-battalion-commander\/","title":{"rendered":"Javier is new MHS battalion commander"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cadet Bernadette Javier, who is ranked as a lieutenant colonel, has been inducted as the battalion commander of the Dolphin Battalion of Marianas High School last Thursday, April 26, 2018 along with upcoming battalion executive officer Dave Tanghal and battalion command sergeant Maj. Aries Gutierrez. <\/p>\n<p>The three will succeed outgoing battalion commander cadet Lt. Col. Isabel Palacios, outgoing battalion executive officer cadet Maj. Reavenjei Cruz, and outgoing battalion command sergeant cadet Maj. Donald Pangelinan. <\/p>\n<p>The turnover ceremony was led by cadet Capt. Kenisha Roque. <\/p>\n<p>Javier\u2019s mother and Tanghal\u2019s parents were present during the ceremony, along with the battalion staff and Marianas High School principal Cherlyn Cabrera and vice principal Karen Alla. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am extremely honored to be appointed as the battalion commander. I am grateful for the work that I\u2019ve done for the battalion that enabled me to receive this prestigious position,\u201d said Javier during her speech. \u201cI would like to say thank you to my friends and family for giving me support when I informed them of this news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Javier plans on taking up business management after high school, but is still undecided on which school she wants to attend. <\/p>\n<p>Tanghal plans to enlist in the U.S. Air Force and go to college at the same time. <\/p>\n<p>Javier plans on winning a trophy for the upcoming school year\u2019s drill competition \u201cI plan on making sure that the students who join the program will enjoy and leave a better citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have confidence in Bernadette that she will lead the battalion to success,\u201d said Palacios, this year\u2019s battalion commander. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that Dave is able to achieve the same goals that I had for my staff this school year,\u201d said Cruz, outgoing executive officer. <\/p>\n<p>After the ceremony, the cadets changed out of their uniforms, ate lunch, and had fun and entertainment throughout the day.
