(NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Northern Marianas College\u2019s Community Development Institute recently presented certificates of completion to a total of 18 daycare center providers who successfully completed the \u201cDevelopmentally Appropriate Practices\u201d Methods Training. <\/p>\n<p>The training was facilitated by CDI and the Department of Community &amp; Cultural Affairs \u2013 Child Care Development Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Developmentally Appropriate Practices Methods Training, 18 daycare providers received 21 hours of training that taught best practices in child care development. The intensive training focused on teaching participants how to understand the concept and application of a child-centered, play-based classroom; evaluate how the DAP approach enhances a child\u2019s development; create role-play activities that teachers can do to help children in physical, cognitive, language, and social-emotional developmental skills; create DAP lessons and environments for infant and toddlers, and identify ways to assess children\u2019s developmental level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are glad to partner with DCCA and Secretary Robert Hunter to provide training activities that expand the capacity of our child care providers,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez.<\/p>\n<p>The training was funded by CCDF, which is a federally funded program whose ongoing quality child care initiative is to support CCDF providers, teachers, and caregivers to increase their knowledge and skills in the care of young children.
