Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho acquitted today, Friday, former Labor secretary Edith Eleanor Deleon Guerrero of all three traffic charges filed against her.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Camacho granted assistant public defender Heather Zona\u2019s motion for judgment of acquittal as to the charges of using a government vehicle that had tinting on its windows, that was not clearly marked as a government vehicle, and did not bear government license plates.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Zona, counsel for Deleon Guerrero, made the motion after assistant attorney general Jonathan Robert Glass Jr. rested the government\u2019s case after its sixth witness completed her testimony.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Camacho said the government has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Deleon Guerrero committed the offenses.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He adjudged Deleon Guerrero not guilty of all charges.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe court can only follow the law as it is written,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n
