Ralph DLG Torres said that government employees deserve to be honored daily for their hard work and dedication in serving the public and not only during Public Service Recognition Week.

The governor stressed this in a visit to the departments of Labor, Finance, and Community and Cultural Affairs last week where he led the recognition rites for each of their top employees.

“This is our way of thanking all the employees whose duties may be big or small for all of their hard work they’ve given in each of their departments. The sacrifices they’ve made deserve recognition every day,” said Torres.

The Public Service Recognition Week was part of a revamped way to celebrate Labor Day.

“Last year, I also went to every department to thank all the employees for all their hard work and we’re doing that again this year. This is basically a big thank you to all our hardworking employees for their years of service. We have numerous employees who have served their departments or divisions in 30 or more years.”

At the DLNR, Secretary Anthony Benavente and Division of Fish and Wildlife director Manny M. Pangelinan joined Torres in honoring their employee of the year, Jesse Deleon Guerrero and Frances Marie G. Sablan, last Thursday.

“We honor all our employees, not only those who were awarded but every single one under my department. Even though they did not get the employee of the year award, each one of them deserves recognition for their dedicated service,” said Benavente.

He recognized all employees of the Division of Fish and Wildlife, Division of Land Registration, Division of Parks & Recreation, and Division of Agriculture.

Benavente said he could not perform his duties as DLNR head without his staff. “Thank you for keeping up with me. I know that I’ve been here for almost a year now but I will continue to serve them as they serve me under our department.”

Gov.
