{"id":275953,"date":"2018-05-14T06:06:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-13T20:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=275953"},"modified":"2018-05-14T06:06:02","modified_gmt":"2018-05-13T20:06:02","slug":"uog-to-launch-farrells-new-book-on-may-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uog-to-launch-farrells-new-book-on-may-16\/","title":{"rendered":"UOG to launch\u00a0Farrell\u2019s new book on May 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Author Don Farrell combed through the National Archives to find an extensive collection of documents and images detailing the often overlooked, yet incredibly valuable role the island of Tinian played in the atomic bombing of Japan at the end of World War II. <\/p>\n<p>From his research, Farrell has written\u00a0Tinian and the\u00a0Bomb, which features detailed accounts and a vast collection of images capturing this significant moment in world history. <\/p>\n<p>The University of Guam Press will host a Guam launch and discussion of the book\u00a0on Wednesday, May 16,\u00a02018,\u00a0at 5:30pm at the UOG College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences\u2019 Lecture Hall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The launch will also feature remarks from UOG president Robert Underwood, who wrote the book\u2019s foreword.<\/p>\n<p>The Pacific Historic Parks will also host Farrell on\u00a0Friday, May 18, from 10am to noon at the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center, commonly known as the National Park Service Visitor Center, where he will provide a book signing and discussion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tinian and the Bomb\u00a0will be available for sale in hardcover at $35 per book at both events. After the launch, the book will be made available at the UOG Triton Bookstore, the T.
