The Northern Marianas College will be conferring a total of 257 associate and bachelor degrees in tomorrow\u2019s 38th Commencement Exercise starting at 4pm at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.<\/p>\n
The number is an increase of 49 students compared to last year\u2019s graduation that had 208.<\/p>\n
Dr. Catherine \u201cKit\u201d Porter Van Meter, NMC\u2019s first president, will be this year\u2019s keynote speaker.<\/p>\n
NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez told Saipan Tribune that Van Meter \u201chas played a formative role in the growth of [NMC] and we are sure that her message will inspire our graduates.\u201d<\/p>\n
Out of the 10 associate degrees to be conferred, 47 are from Liberal Arts, while LA-Education and Criminal Justice have 26 and 22 each. Business Administration with emphasis on Accounting has 20 while 18 are coming from Business Management.<\/p>\n
Hospitality Management and Natural Resources Management will each have 16, while AA\u2019s in Business Administration with emphasis on Computer Application and Business have 11 and 10 apiece.<\/p>\n
A total of 30 students will be receiving their Business Management degrees while BSBM with concentration in Accounting and BS in Elementary Education has eight each. BSEd in Rehabilitation and Human Services will have five graduates while three will be coming from Early Childhood.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe record number of degrees being conferred speaks to the ever-increasing number of residents who are turning to NMC for their professional and personal growth,\u201d said Fernandez.<\/p>\n
