{"id":276423,"date":"2018-05-21T06:06:36","date_gmt":"2018-05-20T20:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=276423"},"modified":"2018-05-21T06:06:36","modified_gmt":"2018-05-20T20:06:36","slug":"bomb-threat-causes-massive-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bomb-threat-causes-massive-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"Bomb threat causes massive traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tenants at the Torres Brothers Building in Garapan were evacuated from the building after its front desk allegedly received a bomb threat Friday afternoon. <\/p>\n<p>No explosive device was found, but the bomb scare snarled traffic on Chalan Pale Arnold for an hour as officers re-routed the traffic flow while clearing operation was being done.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before authorities reported \u201call clear,\u201d police officers were seen across the Torres Brothers building interviewing some employees of the law office on the ground floor of the three-story building. The other tenants of the building were also evacuated while authorities were scouring the building for any bomb.<\/p>\n<p>Derek Gersonde, spokesman of the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, said that DPS 911 reported a bomb threat at the Torres Brothers building at 4:31pm. <\/p>\n<p>Firefighters and hazardous materials personnel were dispatched to the scene. <\/p>\n<p>Gersonde said the Commonwealth Ports Authority Police Explosives K9 reported the \u201call clear\u201d at the building at 5:10pm.<\/p>\n<p>A tenant told Saipan Tribune that it was a female front desk employee who received the bomb threat. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I came, there was a huge traffic and there were a lot of officers,\u201d the tenant said.<\/p>\n<p>There was no information available as to what the caller specifically stated in the call. <\/p>\n<p>The staff of Torres Brothers law firm refused to comment.
