Five persons were injured when a blue sports utility vehicle being driven by an alleged drunk driver collided with a Toyota Tacoma truck along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road near Mangosix in Dandan Thursday night.<\/p>\n
The driver of the SUV, Patrick Castro, 24, was arrested and cited with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, and having an open container in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Castro and his two passengers, who were also intoxicated, were injured. <\/p>\n
The driver and passenger of the Toyota Tacoma were also injured. <\/p>\n
All five were taken to the Commonwealth Health Center and later released, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jacqueline Rae Shepard.<\/p>\n
Shepard said that DPS dispatch first received several calls regarding a reckless driver near Transamerica on Thursday at 7:26pm.<\/p>\n
Shepard said that, according to witnesses, the SUV being driven by Castro was on the eastbound inner lane, when it swerved into oncoming westbound traffic, colliding with a white Tacoma near Mangosix.
