{"id":276657,"date":"2018-05-23T06:06:07","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T20:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=276657"},"modified":"2018-05-23T06:06:07","modified_gmt":"2018-05-22T20:06:07","slug":"ite-installs-free-internet-at-youth-centers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/ite-installs-free-internet-at-youth-centers\/","title":{"rendered":"IT&#038;E installs free internet at youth centers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT&amp;E has installed free high-speed fiber-optic WiFi services in youth centers in the CNMI. <\/p>\n<p>During the Rotary Club of Saipan weekly meeting last Tuesday at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, IT&amp;E marketing manager Natasha Tomokane told Saipan Tribune that they had just completed hooking up all five youth centers with free internet service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have had internet for a long time but, as part of our effort to give back to the community, we\u2019ve shouldered the cost of that instead of having the centers pay for it,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>According to Tomokane, IT&amp;E prides itself in its efforts to help keep students off of the streets and in youth centers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud of that. Summer is coming up, kids are coming out of the schools, and that\u2019s where they spend most of their time and we see the instant benefits to that because they [students] are encouraged to stay away from crimes,\u201d she said.  <\/p>\n<p>Tomokane said that IT&amp;E is a firm believer in the importance of education so they wanted their efforts of giving back to reflect that belief. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re advocates for education\u2026and we want to make sure that our efforts echo that statement,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>According to Youth Affairs Office special assistant Shelane Borja, IT&amp;E hooked up high speed internet to the Koblerville youth center, the San Antonio Youth Center, and the Chalan Kanoa youth center. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IT&amp;E has installed free high-speed fiber-optic WiFi services in youth centers in the CNMI.
