{"id":276729,"date":"2018-05-24T06:06:08","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T20:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=276729"},"modified":"2018-05-24T06:06:08","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T20:06:08","slug":"snild-oks-3-3m-funding-measure-including-funds-for-generator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/snild-oks-3-3m-funding-measure-including-funds-for-generator\/","title":{"rendered":"SNILD OK\u2019s $3.3M funding measure, including funds for generator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation in their session last week at the House chamber on Capitol Hill passed a funding measure costing about $3.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>The measure included funding for a generator for the CNMI Legislative building on Capitol Hill, which was ravaged by blackouts that disrupted meetings all throughout last Friday and Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>The $3.3 million is derived from the revenues collected from annual pachinko slot and poker machine annual local licensing fees for fiscal year 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation appropriated $1.7 million to the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance, or SHEFA, with $220,000 allocated for their personnel and operations; $30,000 for the Saipan Little League; $84,000 for the Commonwealth Zoning Board; $265,000 for the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office\u2019s operations; $135,000 to the Northern Islands Mayor\u2019s Office for boat charters, operations and maintenance, repairs and renovations of municipal buildings, offices, and capital equipment, and more.<\/p>\n<p>A total of $310,000 will be distributed to each precinct with Precinct I getting $85,000 for the paving and construction of Aluu Drive and road bumps on Essok Avenue; $50,000 for the renovation and upgrade of the Susupe Manhoben Center in Precinct II; $75,000 to Precinct III for drainage improvements and more; $50,000 for Precinct IV\u2019s upgrading and refurbishing of their basketball courts and for the construction of a road bump on St. Lourdes Dr. and Mamati Lp. in San Roque; and $50,000 for the upgrade of the Kagman II basketball courts.<\/p>\n<p>Another $120,000 is appropriated to the Liberation Day activities; $30,000 for the annual Flame Tree Arts Festival; $23,000 for the Voices of the CNMI Saipan Chapter for their participation at the 2018 Self Advocacy Being Empowered in Alabama; $5,000 for the Saipan International Fishing Derby; $125,000 for the Drug Court for treatment and operations; $100,000 for the Northern Marianas Trades Institute for their operations and personnel; and $100,000 for the Legislative Bureau, with $70,000 going to the purchase of a generator system and payment for the layout design, $30,000 for operations, and $25,000 for the CNMI High School Mock Trial Program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation in their session last week at the House&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[21307,173,6648,9364],"class_list":["post-276729","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-aluu-drive","tag-capitol-hill","tag-commonwealth-zoning-board","tag-drug-court"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276729","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/22"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=276729"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276729\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=276729"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=276729"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=276729"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
