Another Mass of Remembrance for missing sisters Faloma and Maleina Luhk will be held at the Sta. Soledad Church in Kagman tomorrow, Friday, which marks the seventh year of the children\u2019s mysterious disappearance in As Teo. <\/p>\n
Elbert Quitugua, the grandfather of the Luhk sisters, said yesterday that the family is offering the Mass for special intention or remembrance at 6pm.<\/p>\n
As this developed, FBI special agent Arnold Laanui said yesterday that the Luhk sisters\u2019 case is still open and under investigation by the FBI.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter seven years, the matter has yet to be resolved and the location and condition of the Luhk sisters has yet to be determined,\u201d said Laanui in response to Saipan Tribune\u2019s request for comments.<\/p>\n
Laanui said FBI special agents stationed on Saipan and Guam, as well as their law enforcement partners on both islands, continue to pursue and exhaust all leads in this matter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The FBI asks that anyone with information as to whereabouts of the sisters to come forward by contacting the FBI Saipan Office at 670-322-6934.<\/p>\n
Quitugua said the family is ready to accept whatever the findings will be in the investigation\u2014either his granddaughters are alive or they are \u201cno longer with us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just have to accept the fact that they have been gone for seven years now,\u201d Quitugua said.<\/p>\n
Last Saturday, a Mass of Remembrance for the Luhk sisters was held at the St. Jude Church in Koblerville. Monsignor James L.G. Benavente, the FBI\u2019s chaplain for Guam and Saipan, served as the Mass\u2019 guest homilist.<\/p>\n
The Luhk sisters were last seen at a public school bus shelter near their home in As Teo in the morning of May 25, 2011. A massive monthlong search was then conducted by the FBI, Department of Public Safety, other law enforcers, and volunteers on Saipan, but there was no trace of their whereabouts.<\/p>\n
