{"id":276878,"date":"2018-05-28T06:00:19","date_gmt":"2018-05-27T20:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=276878"},"modified":"2018-05-28T06:00:19","modified_gmt":"2018-05-27T20:00:19","slug":"uscis-efforts-lead-to-nmi-sentencing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uscis-efforts-lead-to-nmi-sentencing\/","title":{"rendered":"USCIS efforts lead to NMI sentencing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services efforts led to the sentencing of Arlene Hart last week for two counts of mail fraud. <\/p>\n<p>Hart was sentenced for her participation in a scheme to defraud the government by submitting fraudulent documents to the USCIS California Service Center in support of CNMI-Only Transitional Worker applications for workers from the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>Hart forged the signatures of the workers on the employment contracts submitted to USCIS and declared that she had non-temporary, full-time employment for the workers, which was not true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m immensely proud of our combined team of experts who aided in bringing these criminals to justice,\u201d said USCIS CSC director Kathy A. Baran. \u201cThe CSC will continue playing a key role in USCIS efforts to safeguard the integrity of our immigration laws, protect American workers and safeguard the homeland. I have every confidence that my team is ready, trained, and poised to do exactly that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hart was sentenced to eight months in prison as well as four months of home confinement, one year of supervised release after incarceration, and 50 hours of community service.
