{"id":277309,"date":"2018-06-01T06:06:26","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T20:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=277309"},"modified":"2018-06-01T06:06:26","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T20:06:26","slug":"another-robbery-in-garapan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/another-robbery-in-garapan\/","title":{"rendered":"Another robbery in Garapan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Car-riding robbers grabbed a bag from a woman who was walking with her boyfriend in Garapan Wednesday night. <\/p>\n<p>The suspects got away with the victim\u2019s bag that contained $200 in cash, two passports, two Chinese identification cards, and one credit card, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, a 26-year-old Chinese national, was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>DPS spokesperson Jacqueline Rae Shepard said that police received a call about a robbery in front of the Island Hotel in Garapan at 8:48pm.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard said that, according to the victim, she and her boyfriend were walking back to their hotel room from I Love Saipan on Beach Road when the incident happened.<\/p>\n<p>The victim\u2019s bag was on her left arm, when a black sedan traveling east pulled up on her left side. Someone inside the car grabbed the victim\u2019s bag while the car was still traveling.<\/p>\n<p>The victim and her boyfriend chased the car on foot until they reached a rental car lot located near the Island Hotel. The two got into their car and tried to locate the suspects\u2019 car.<\/p>\n<p>The two lost sight of the suspects\u2019 vehicle when it made a right turn on Filooris Avenue. The victims returned to the rental car lot and called the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact DPS at 664-9001,\u201d Shepard said.<\/p>\n<p>Last May 21, a 42-year-old Asian woman was reportedly robbed of her purse containing cash and passport by an unidentified man at Beer and Chicken Restaurant in Garapan. <\/p>\n<p>The suspect ran into a sedan and sped off. The victim was able to jot down the car\u2019s license plate.
