The Chalan Kanoa Bears are still undefeated in the second round of the regular season of the 2018 Saipan Baseball League after shutting down Go See Mark, 4-0, last week at the Francisco \u201cTan Ko\u201d Palacios Ballfield.<\/p>\n
The Bears now hold a 13-1 record after getting win No. 5 in Round 2 to keep the lead in the 10-team field. GSM continued its on and off performance in the second round as it absorbed its second loss at this juncture for an 11-3 mark.<\/p>\n
Starting pitcher Virgil Secharmidal made life difficult for GSM, as he nearly threw a no-hitter in 6.2 innings of work. He gave up only one hit to GSM\u2014a double from leadoff batter Franco Nakamura at the bottom of the third inning. Jose Lizama closed out for the Bears and also prevented GSM from scoring.<\/p>\n
With Secharmidal and Jose Lizama on the mound for the Bears, GSM went only 3-for-29.<\/p>\n
Henry, Jose, and A.J. Lizama had one RBI each, while the Bears\u2019 fourth run was scored by Fred Songao at the top of the eighth inning off GSM\u2019s error. Henry and A.J. also scored one run apiece at the top of the third inning, while leadoff batter Kiku put the Bears on the board in the first inning off Henry\u2019s single.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, defending champions Aces pounced on the Outlaws in last Thursday\u2019s game, 17-2.<\/p>\n
The Aces got the win after only four and a half innings. The early victory was made possible by the Aces\u2019 back-to-back six-run inning in the second and third.<\/p>\n
Before the reigning titlist broke away, the match was tied, 1-all, after one complete inning. Mike Iguel\u2019s single drove in second batter and his brother Lamarc at the bottom of the first inning. Juztin Mizutani, on the other hand, reached for the Outlaws off a passed ball at the bottom, while the team\u2019s last run was courtesy of Olympio Muna\u2019s single that brought home Wally Emul in the fourth inning.<\/p>\n
