Sablan (Ind-MP) announced. The federal funding will be used for fencing around the airport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaintaining this perimeter fencing will help make sure that Rota\u2019s airport can keep its Airport Operating Certificate,\u201d Sablan explained. \u201cAnd the money is a boost for Rota\u2019s economy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that shipping the materials to Rota, hiring workers, sales of food, gas, and electricity will all add up and help Rota\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration requires in all states and non-state areas that airports serving aircraft designed for more than nine passengers be certified. One element for certification is that the public is protected against inadvertent entry to the airport.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA also checks that aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment and personnel are ready for emergencies. Fuel facilities, lighting equipment, and a variety of other infrastructure and human resources must be in place, as well, to maintain the operating certificate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though flight services to Rota are being cut, it is important to maintain the Rota airport in good operating condition, so certification remains current and Rota continues to have the welcome mat out for visitors,\u201d Sablan said. \u201cIn Congress, I will continue to support America\u2019s airports, especially those serving small communities like Rota.
