For individuals who are unable to access the Let\u2019s Learn Chamorro or Ketungu Chamorro series produced by Rivers Pictures, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will now host weekly screenings of new Ketungu Chamorro episodes every Saturday. <\/p>\n
Last Saturday, JKPL premiered their first episode of the Let\u2019s Learn series. The premiere was attended by Public School System representatives, Indigenous Affairs Office representatives, and first lady Diann Torres.<\/p>\n
The Let\u2019s Learn Series is a production of Rivers Pictures LLC with the intent to strengthen the indigenous Chamorro and Carolinian language not just in the CNMI but worldwide. <\/p>\n
According to Valentina Rivera, the producer of the Let\u2019s Learn Series and owner of Rivers Pictures LLC, last Saturday was the first official premiere of Ketungu Chamorro. <\/p>\n
\u201cUsually we would just announce it publicly like through social media\u2026 but that was back in 2006 for Episode 1 and then Episode 2 was with first lady Dianne Torres,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Rivera hopes that the series will also help students learn Chamorro. \u201cThe show is like bringing the classroom to your home,\u201d she said, adding that it will also allow families to learn the language together.<\/p>\n
The episode that premiered last Saturday was the third episode of the first season of Ketungu Chamorro. The episode focused on counting in Chamorro, from 1 to 100. <\/p>\n
The first episode that was released back in 2006 focused on the Chamorro alphabet and how to cook red rice and the second episode focused on Torres\u2019 book about Chamorro language comprehension. <\/p>\n
For individuals who want to catch the brand-new episodes of Ketungu Chamorro at the JKPL, the library will host a premiere every Saturday from 6:30pm to 7pm at the children\u2019s section of the library. The JKPL will also re-air the video in its VTC room throughout the week. <\/p>\n
