{"id":278549,"date":"2018-06-21T06:00:44","date_gmt":"2018-06-20T20:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=278549"},"modified":"2018-06-21T06:00:44","modified_gmt":"2018-06-20T20:00:44","slug":"registration-drive-at-14-places-nets-427-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/registration-drive-at-14-places-nets-427-voters\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration drive at 14 places nets 427 voters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission\u2019s voter registration drive at 14 different locations on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota has resulted in the registration of 427 individuals. <\/p>\n<p>CEC acting executive director Kayla Igitol in an interview disclosed that with the new registrants, as of Tuesday there are now a total of 17,657 registered voters in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2016 general election, there were a total of 17,928 registered voters in the CNMI. <\/p>\n<p>Igitol also announced that starting July 7, CEC\u2019s office in Susupe will open every Saturdays from 9am to 3pm to accommodate more persons who want to register.<\/p>\n<p>Igitol said most people work from Monday to Friday and they want to give them opportunity to register before the Sept. 7 deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The voter registration drive started last April 12 at the Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa and at Kagman High School.
