Intro to Spanish Class at JKPL<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the month of July, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be hosting a free Intro to Spanish for Teens and Adults.<\/p>\n

The dates for the classes are Friday, July 6, Wednesday, July 11, and Wednesday, July 18. The classes will be held from 4pm to 5pm. Because it is a basic Spanish class, participants will learn topics like the alphabet, counting, basic phrases, and more. This class is part of the Teen and Adult Summer Library Institute, so attending all four classes will count toward the reading log. Torres and Babauta forum on Marianas Agupa Chamorro Talkshow<\/strong><\/p>\n

This coming Saturday, July 7, 20018 at 10am, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and former governor Juan N. Babauta will appear together on Marianas Agupa Talkshow.<\/p>\n

According to Glenn H. Manglona, host of Marianas Agupa Talkshow, \u201cthe purpose of this forum is to find out from each of our gubernatorial candidate where do they stand on the most pressing issue affecting our people today. The five areas that will be asked are public health, economy, education, utility, and transportation.<\/p>\n

Manglona said, \u201cThe invitation letter was sent out last week to both of our gubernatorial candidates and we hope that they will show up for this important forum. Our listening audience are anxious to listen to our 2018 gubernatorial hopeful. So get your coffee and donuts ready for the show. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band to hold concerts at AMP<\/strong><\/p>\n

American Memorial Park is proud to host the United States Marine Corps Pacific Band for two concerts during their visit to Saipan for our Liberation Day celebration. The brass band and jazz concerts are open to the community and free of charge:<\/p>\n

\u2022\tJuly 4: Full ceremonial band will play at the Liberation Day Parade<\/p>\n

\u2022\tJuly 5: Concert will start at 2pm at the American Memorial Park indoor theater<\/p>\n

Please join us for some great music at the park!<\/p>\n

American Memorial Park was created to honor the American and Marianas people who died in the World War II Marianas campaign. (PR)<\/p>\n

Water outage for Tanapag, Achugoa, As Mahetog<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the general public that there is an emergency water service interruption for the Tanapag, Achugao, and As Mahetog areas.<\/p>\n

The cause of the interruption is due to a leak on the 4-inch distribution water main line near the Tanapag Church. Water operations personnel were informed of the leak but were unable to make the necessary repairs due to World War II human remains being discovered at the job site. The Historic Preservation Office was informed and is currently making their assessments. Once done, HPO will give CUC clearance to proceed with repairs.<\/p>\n

Updates will follow as soon as they are available.<\/p>\n

6 Managaha beaches red-flagged<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Division of Environmental Quality has red-flagged six Managaha beaches and is advising the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified. <\/p>\n

Affected sites are Swimming Area A (MG02), Swimming Area B (MG04), Managaha Beach (MG07), Swimmming Area A(MG03), Managaha Beach (MG05), and Managaha Beach (MG10)<\/p>\n

Samples collected from these locations contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria (enterococci) that exceeded the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards. These bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water. <\/p>\n

DEQ analyzes water samples collected from Saipan\u2019s recreational beaches and storm drainage every Tuesday. For more information, contact DEQ at 664-8500. (PR)<\/p>\n

Writer\u2019s Workshop comes to Tinian on July 13<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Tinian Public Library, Tinian Mayor\u2019s Office, and author Walt F.J. Goodridge will present the author\u2019s popular Writer\u2019s Workshop on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm, free of charge at the library on the island of Tinian.<\/p>\n

This event requires at least 15 pre-registered participants in order to take place.
