{"id":279460,"date":"2018-07-05T06:06:24","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T20:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=279460"},"modified":"2018-07-05T06:06:24","modified_gmt":"2018-07-04T20:06:24","slug":"cuc-tinian-working-on-sewer-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cuc-tinian-working-on-sewer-system\/","title":{"rendered":"CUC, Tinian working on sewer system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has been working with the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation in providing a sewer system in the island\u2019s largest village.<\/p>\n<p>CUC and the Tinian delegation are now in the process of developing a strategy so they could provide a sewer treatment and collection to the West San Jose area as stated on their 2017 CUC Tinian Water Quality Report from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.<\/p>\n<p>The treatment and collection facility is now fully built and currently relies on septic systems in handling wastewater.<\/p>\n<p>CUC is also concerned on the nitrate levels as they continue their planning efforts in providing the needed funds to install sewer infrastructure in the said location.<\/p>\n<p>It has been CUC\u2019s goal to provide their consumers with clean and potable water as well as having a 24-hour supply.<\/p>\n<p>Today, according to the report, all of Tinian\u2019s water customers are now enjoying 24-hour water service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur CUC water employees continue to strive to deliver a quality product to all of our customers and to protect the CNMI\u2019s water resources,\u201d CUC said in the report.<\/p>\n<p>CUC, to ensure water safety, had been strictly monitoring the CNMI\u2019s water quality from contaminants as stated in local and federal laws under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and other rules and regulations from the local Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.<\/p>\n<p>Trained laboratory and water treatment specialists have been conducting annual tests on Tinian\u2019s water samples.
