Witnesses host convention<\/strong>
\nThe public is invited to attend a free annual event being hosted by Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses on the weekend of July 13-15 at their Kingdom Hall in Gualo Rai. With the theme \u201cBe Courageous!\u201d this year\u2019s convention will focus on practical ways to enjoy a happy life now and have a real hope for the future.<\/p>\n

Among the convention\u2019s 54 presentations will be Bible-based talks, audio dramas, interviews and short videos. A multimedia presentation will demonstrate what real people\u2014and even five animals\u2014can teach us about courage.<\/p>\n

A Sunday morning public discourse will explain why Jesus told a grieving father: \u201cHave no fear.\u201d (Mark 5:36) And those in attendance Sunday Afternoon will see Jonah get Swallowed by a fish in the feature film: \u201cThe Story of Jonah\u2014A Lesson in Courage and Mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sessions begin each day at 9:20am. Admission is free and collections will not be taken.<\/p>\n

Survivors & caregivers support meeting on July 11<\/strong>

Intro to Spanish Class at JKPL<\/strong>
\nDuring the month of July, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be hosting a free Intro to Spanish for Teens and Adults.<\/p>\n

The dates for the classes are Friday, July 6, Wednesday, July 11, and Wednesday, July 18. The classes will be held from 4pm to 5pm. Because it is a basic Spanish class, participants will learn topics like the alphabet, counting, basic phrases, and more. This class is part of the Teen and Adult Summer Library Institute, so attending all four classes will count toward the reading log. Torres and Babauta forum on Marianas Agupa Chamorro talkshow<\/strong>
\nThis coming Saturday, July 7, 20018 at 10am, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and former governor Juan N. Babauta will appear together on Marianas Agupa Chamorro talkshow.<\/p>\n

According to Glenn H. Manglona, host of Marianas Agupa talkshow, \u201cthe purpose of this forum is to find out from each of our gubernatorial candidate where do they stand on the most pressing issue affecting our people today. The five areas that will be asked are public health, economy, education, utility, and transportation.<\/p>\n

Manglona said, \u201cThe invitation letter was sent out last week to both of our gubernatorial candidates and we hope that they will show up for this important forum. Our listening audience are anxious to listen to our 2018 gubernatorial hopeful. So get your coffee and donuts ready for the show. Writer\u2019s Workshop comes to Tinian on July 13<\/strong>
\nThe Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Tinian Public Library, Tinian Mayor\u2019s Office, and author Walt F.J. Goodridge will present the author\u2019s popular Writer\u2019s Workshop on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm, free of charge at the library on the island of Tinian.<\/p>\n

This event requires at least 15 pre-registered participants in order to take place. CUC: FAC remains same for July<\/strong>
\nThe Commonwealth Utilities Corp. had announced that the Fuel Adjustment Charge remains at $0.22317 per kWh for the month of July.<\/p>\n

Although there has been a slight decrease in the Mean of Platts Singapore monthly pricing from June to July as notified by Mobil Oil Mariana Islands, Inc., the decrease did not equal or exceed a 4.5 percent differential of the average per gallon cost of fuel. Accordingly, there will be no adjustment made to the overall CUC kWh rate for the month of July.<\/p>\n

CUC is required, pursuant to an order previously issued by the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission, to adjust (up or down) the FAC pass-through rate when the MOPS monthly pricing equals or exceeds a 4.5 percent differential of the average per gallon cost of fuel used the calculation of the current FAC rate.
