The CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency yesterday warned the public about hazardous surf generated by Super Typhoon Maria along west facing reefs and beaches of the Mariana Islands until this morning, Monday. Gov. Ralph DLG Torres advised the public to avoid venturing near reef lines and beaches, especially those facing west. <\/p>\n
HSEMA said if caught by a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not attempt to swim directly against a rip current,\u201d HSEMA said in its advisory.<\/p>\n
For Saipan, Tinian, and Rota hazardous surf of 8 to 10 feet along west reefs will slowly subside over Sunday night. The hazardous surf will fall below hazardous level to between 6 and 8 feet by early this morning, Monday. <\/p>\n
