(Northern Marianas Athletics)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The bulk of the CNMI delegates to the 2018 Micronesian Games will leave Saipan for Yap this Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball, baseball, men\u2019s indoor volleyball, athletics, and men\u2019s and women\u2019s canoe teams will board a United Airlines flight to Guam before heading to Colonia Saturday early afternoon in time for Sunday\u2019s opening ceremony at the Yap Sports Complex track oval. The CNMI\u2019s spearfishing team will leave tomorrow, while the Commonwealth\u2019s swimmers won\u2019t be in Yap until next week, as the open water swim is scheduled on July 20 and 21.<\/p>\n<p>Baseball games will be played from July 16 to 26 with the CNMI debuting against Yap on July 17 in the 3pm first match. In the second tiff, it will be Kosrae versus Pohnpei, while the latter will kick off the competition on July 16 at 3pm against Palau. Yap will also play in the opening day, as it faces Kosrae at 6pm. Defending champion Guam will have its first match on July 18 opposite Kosrae. The baseball contest will use a page system format in the playoffs with the Top 2 finishers after the elimination battling for the first finals berth. The loser of the No. 1 vs 2 match will then play the winner of the No. 3 vs 4 tiff for the second and last finals ticket. The gold medal game is tentatively set for July 26 at 6pm after the third place match at 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>Basketball will also start on July 16 and will conclude on July 24.
