A senator wants to hold an education oversight for the sake of the Senate on the Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program.<\/p>\n
During last Monday\u2019s Senate session, Sen. Sixto K. Igisomar (R-Saipan) commented on a message from Gov. Ralph DLG Torres regarding the SAAR program, that he wishes to see an executive report on the program that tackles substance abusers and facilitates their recovery.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am just hoping if we can request the Senate Health and Welfare Committee chairwoman Sen. Teresita Santos (R-Saipan) to request for an executive report from the Substance Abuse office,\u201d he said in Monday\u2019s session.<\/p>\n
He added that he wishes to conduct an oversight, on a positive note, for education purposes.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026So that we can learn to understand this office a little bit more\u2014its achievements, its processes, and [other] organic form of working progress,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
The request was noted by Santos.<\/p>\n
The SAAR program is a program led by special assistant for SAAR Yvette Sablan. The program houses those who wish to seek rehabilitation treatment at the Hinemlu O\u2019hala Para Enteramenti, or HOPE, rehabilitation center at the former Far East Broadcasting Center in Marpi.<\/p>\n
The program seeks to address substance abuse in collaboration with the Community Guidance Center, the Commonwealth Healthcare Center, and the CNMI Drug Court.<\/p>\n
SAAR staff include certified substance abuse counselors that are certified in providing psychotherapy services to various groups with addiction or mental illnesses, addiction assessment, recovery based practices and integrated dual disorder treatment, including forensic focused intervention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
