A Japanese investor who has fallen immediately in love with the CNMI has decided to invest in its economy. <\/p>\n
Last Thursday, Yusho Oki visited Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang to discuss possible business ventures in the CNMI and a possibility of a sister-city relationship with multiple cities in Japan. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe is here on a courtesy visit to the Saipan mayor\u2026 He is here to explore the islands on the possibilities of investments \u2026He just came here for a courtesy visit to the mayor and to share his ideas on the project and to get the mayor\u2019s opinion because of respect,\u201d said Oki\u2019s translator. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe will leave for Japan next week and promised to establish a sister-city between Saipan and Japan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Oki said through his translator that he intends to reveal his actual business plan to the public upon his return in August.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn August he will return and will reveal his business plan he doesn\u2019t want to disclose the details yet,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
When asked why he decided to invest in the CNMI from all the other possible prospects, Oki said through his translator that since his arrival two years ago, the CNMI islands have captivated him. <\/p>\n
\u201cMr. Oki really loves the CNMI. Since the first time he arrived two years ago, he has kept on coming back,\u201d said Oki\u2019s translator.<\/p>\n
Apatang said that the CNMI always welcomes new business ventures especially Japanese ones given the history they share with the islands. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe always welcome visitors here especially our Japanese friends we\u2019re always appreciative of when they come to visit our islands\u2026I always encourage our Japanese friends to come back and invest in the CNMI. They have been our partners since way back for the longest time and all of a sudden they just started phasing out and its time to get them back,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Apatang is also looking forward to the sister-city relationship that Oki promised to help establish. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking forward to working with him and establishing sister city relationships so we can strengthen our relationship with Japan\u2026.
