HAGATNA, Guam\u2014Bank of Guam was hailed for its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts at the 2018 Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards held July 12, 2018. Bank of Guam earned the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year\u2014Silver award for its high school financial literacy programs and the 2017 Life Teen Expo.<\/p>\n
Bank of Guam is Guam\u2019s leader in financial literacy efforts. Its high school financial simulation program, \u201cMad City Money,\u201d was launched in October 2016 and has reached over 2,100 high school students, 16 schools throughout Guam, Saipan and Palau and five organizations. Since 2004, the bank has also led local efforts twice a year for \u201cNational Teach Children to Save\u201d and \u201cGet Smart About Credit,\u201d which are financial literacy programs developed by the American Bankers Association targeted elementary, middle and high school students.<\/p>\n
In its 13th year, the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards recognizes banks all over Asia that stand out with groundbreaking products and services. Winners are chosen by a venerated panel of judges from Deloitte, Ernst & Young Advisory, KPMG and PwC South East Asia Consulting.<\/p>\n
Bank of Guam has won awards from Mercomm Annual Report Competition (international) and from American Bankers Association Marketing (national).<\/p>\n
Acting president Maria Eugenia H. Leon Guerrero lauded the Bank\u2019s efforts stating, \u201cOur Bank was started 46 years ago to provide opportunity to our local community. A big part of that is promoting financial literacy and awareness at all levels, particularly our children. Today, Bank of Guam\u2019s community outreach and financial literacy efforts are unmatched as our employees continue to make a difference in the lives of young adults throughout our region. We are humbled to receive such recognition from an esteemed panel of judges.\u201d<\/p>\n
