{"id":280122,"date":"2018-07-17T06:00:12","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T20:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=280122"},"modified":"2018-07-17T06:00:12","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T20:00:12","slug":"senate-confirms-2-to-licensing-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/senate-confirms-2-to-licensing-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate confirms 2 to Licensing Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate confirmed two representatives to the CNMI Professional Licensing Board representing Saipan unanimously.<\/p>\n<p>During a session on Friday, the Senate confirmed Elizabeth Balajadia and Roy Reyes to serve a full term of six years for the PLB, or the body that reviews professional licensing applications in the NMI.<\/p>\n<p>Balajadia, who is a licensed civil engineer, said she wishes to \u201cprotect the community\u201d by making sure engineers are licensed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d also like to [urge] our young engineers to [obtain licensure] in the CNMI,\u201d said Balajadia.<\/p>\n<p>The PLB works together with the Health Care Professions Licensing Board on licensing medical professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Reyes, like Balajadia, remains thankful to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres for his appointment. He noted that he was looking forward to an additional six years for his tenure on the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been getting a lot of applicants from off-island, so we would continue our diligent effort to make sure that we screen those applicants,\u201d said Reyes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our [responsibilities] is that when we get complaints, we review them,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>The PLB\u2019s scope includes reviewing the licensure applications of engineers, architects, surveyors, and appraisers.
