The island community is invited to be present at the 6pm ceremony. <\/p>\n<p>The lantern ceremony commemorates the Japanese soldiers that lost their lives on Saipan during World War II <\/p>\n<p>The Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office is administrating the 40th student cultural-exchange program of the Sanpoen group from Japan. <\/p>\n<p>Yesterday at 7:45am, the first group arrived on Saipan. The second Sanpoen group will land on Saipan today. The Japanese groups are staying on island for only three days, leaving by Aug 1. <\/p>\n<p>In the ceremony, Japanese students will light up the 300 candles and placed them in floating lanterns.
