(NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Eight Northern Marianas College students completed the six-week Nursing Assistant Training Program yesterday and received their certificates of completion in a ceremony attended by NMC leaders and the students\u2019 families.<\/p>\n<p>The certificate program prepares entry-level nursing assistants to provide basic nursing care to the elderly, ill, and persons with disabilities in long-term care, hospitals, clinics, schools, and home health settings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud of the students who have successfully completed this six-week intensive program,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. \u201cTheir training will help to expand local nursing workforce capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The students\u2019 successful completion of the Nursing Assistant Certificate Program makes them eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Competency Examination through the Northern Mariana Islands Board of Nursing.<\/p>\n<p>Once the students pass this exam, the board will license them as Certified Nursing Assistants and they will be placed on the NMI\u00a0Board of Nursing Registry for nursing assistants.
