{"id":281580,"date":"2018-08-06T06:06:05","date_gmt":"2018-08-05T22:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=281580"},"modified":"2018-08-06T06:06:05","modified_gmt":"2018-08-05T22:06:05","slug":"make-a-wish-hosts-donor-appreciation-mixer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/make-a-wish-hosts-donor-appreciation-mixer\/","title":{"rendered":"Make-a-Wish hosts donor appreciation mixer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam and CNMI hosted the 2nd Annual CNMI Donor Appreciation Mixer last Aug. 2 at Fiesta Resort and Spa\u2019s Chambre Bar to honor the top donors for 2017 as well as invite Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. physicians to refer potential \u201cwish kids\u201d to the foundation. <\/p>\n<p>The foundation, one of the world\u2019s leading children\u2019s charities, grants a wish of a child with debilitating illness. It calls its beneficiaries \u201cwish kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNMI board members Wendi Herring and Kanae Quinn, along with foundation president\/CEO Eric Tydingco, hosted the mixer last Aug. 2. Sponsors of the event were Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan, Saipan Brewing Co., and R&amp;J Wine Liquor &amp; Tobacco.<\/p>\n<p>The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam and CNMI\u2019s top 18 donors in 2017 were (Diamond) Bank of Guam, Hyatt Regency Saipan, and Triple J Enterprises; (Gold) DFS Saipan, Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan, Imperial Pacific International, Marianas Variety, Naked Fish Bar &amp; Grill, and The Shack; (Silver) Bank of Saipan, BFJ Corp., Bridge Capital LLC, Docomo Pacific, Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan, JC Tenorio Enterprises, MarPac, McDonald\u2019s, and TakeCare.<\/p>\n<p>All funds raised in the Guam and CNMI stay in the region to assist \u201cwish kids\u201d here. Upcoming events include the 30th Annual Gala at the Hyatt Regency Guam on Aug. 25, 2018, Commonwealth Cancer Association\u2019s 5KM Fun Run and Bike for a Cure on Sept. 1, 2018, and the 2018 Wish Night on Nov.9, 2018. <\/p>\n<p>The foundation\u2019s mission is \u201cTogether, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the foundation has 64 chapters in the United States and its territories. <\/p>\n<p>With the help of donors and nearly 30,000 volunteers, the foundation grants a wish every 32 minutes and has granted more than 250,000 wishes in the United States since its inception. <\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit guam.wish.org.
